only 4 more chances to see RED
|
Only 4 more performances of one of the best shows ever performed at Cyrano's. See it Thurs-Sun
"One of the things I love about this play is it puts us smack into the world of two guys at WORK, busy doing their chores in a painter's studio. The abstract expressionist Mark Rothko and his assistant, Ken, chat, tussle and turn over any number of art-philosophical ideas, but they do all this while they're working.
Work for Rothko is also THOUGHT. He THINKS through his paintings, he WAITS expectantly for the moment of inspiration hoping it will gallop toward him while his brush is close at hand. In other words, he's never not working. If you're an artist, if you spend any time at all thinking about the purpose of art, if you wonder about the mind-set of artists (love, hate or perplex yourself about it, as you may), if you want to know more about modern art/artists---and you have NOT seen this play---well, I wonder what you're waiting for. -- Peter Porco
Plays 7 pm Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 3 pm Sunday through June 16. Advance tickets available at Centertix, 263-ARTS or the Performing Arts Center Box Office.
A special thank you to Peter Porco for his comments and the beautiful Rothko collage he created for our poster and program

THIS SUMMER at Cyrano's
|
|
Mark your calendars for another delightful summer musical, July 4 - August 4!
That's right! The title of the show IS [title of show]! This one-act musical chronicles unknown author (Hunter) and composer/lyricist (Jeff) in their rush to write a completely original musical starring themselves and their talented friends, Susan and Heidi, in time to enter it into the New York Musical Theatre Festival.
A smash hit on Broadway and Off-Broadway, and Tony Award Nominee, [title of show] is a charming, often hilarious, and occasionally poignant musical about theatre. It's a perfect summer treat for you and your visitors!
Music and lyrics by Jeff Bowen, book by Hunter Bell. Directed by Shelly Wozniak. Advance tickets available at Centertix, 263-ARTS or the PAC Box Office.

Brava Gail!
Last weekend the 2013 Jerry Harper Service Award was presented to Dr. Gail Renardson, who in so many ways has been greatly responsible for the success and evolution of the Last Frontier Theatre Conference.
"Gail has been a tireless supporter of the conference since the very beginning. Working in many capacities throughout the formative times of the event, she also led the play selection process for many years, all while working as a full-time college professor. " -- Ron Holmstrom in The Valdez Star
